“Not yet in stone” is a series of soapstone sculptures that represent arriving at the full pleasure of being a woman. Through the creation of these works, Dengler throws away the negative experiences, the negative energy, the negative comments, and practices being present, in her skin, appreciating her body and her mind for who and what it is. In the artist’s loving hands, stone — a hard material — turns soft, curved, in and out, smooth, constantly evolving, and constantly changing. It becomes that which it was meant to be.
